If you have taxed, made a SORN or had an MOT test done in the last 5 days these details may not yet have updated. If the vehicle has been sold or transferred, new keepers must obtain new tax before using the vehicle.

If no MOT details are held by DVLA, this could be because no MOT has ever been done on the vehicle.

If your car or motorcycle is nearing 3 years old, you must have an MOT test done before the 3 year anniversary of the first registered date.

Different rules apply to taxis and passenger vehicles with more than 8 seats. They must have an annual MOT carried out. Lorries, buses and coaches must also be tested 12 months after first registered and annually thereafter.
